The 26th ICDE World Conference – call for papers


Experts, academics and practitioners from across the globe are invited to attend the 26th ICDE World Conference, hosted by the University of South Africa, in South Africa from 14-16 October 2015. The call for papers deadline is fast approaching.

The conference will address open and distance learning in 21st century global higher education within the context of increasing demands for access, decreasing state resources and growing concern about the quality of provision. The Presidents' Summit will be held during the World Conference, and the High Level Policy Forum will be held on 17 October.

Expert speakers will share their diverse views and innovative approaches to teaching and learning in an Open and Distance Learning environment. The list of expert speakers is available on the conference website.


The conference, which has the theme ‘growing capacities for sustainable distance e-learning provision’, will have eight tracks including:



  • Open and Distance Learning policy, governance and sustainability

  • Changing contexts

  • Quality

  • Curriculum development, pedagogy and assessment

  • Student success, retention and support

  • Research and the scholarship of teaching and learning

  • Affordances and acceptance of established and emerging technologies

  • Professional development and learning/growing capacity


The call for papers is now open, and the submission deadline is 31 March 2015.
